GMC will be offering 4G in New Cars Soon

Nowadays, most people want to stay connected where ever they are and being in your car should not be a show stopper. Whether it's listening to your favorite music, navigating your vehicle in a new urban area, or stay connected with your friends, your Smartphone keeps you connected to the world around you. Using your phone, while driving your vehicle may not always be the easiest or the safest. This is why GMC had introduced infotainment systems in their new vehicles.

As we know technology is rapidly changing and to follow new tech, GM has decided to improve their connectivity offering in popular truck models like the GM Sierra 1500 and Terrain.

During the recent 2013 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, GM announced their partnership with AT&T, to develop a new app to be offering 4G LT connectivity in GM new cars soon. If you have been following recent wireless developments, 4G is the is the fourth generation of mobile communication technology and that AT&T is aiming to expand their coverage of 4G to close to 300 million people in the US before the end of next year.

As Ralph de la Vega, president and CEO, AT&T Mobility, explains: "While our 4G LTE network will provide fast, reliable mobile broadband for GM's connected vehicles, we're also looking forward to working directly with GM researchers and engineers as well as the developer community to invent new in-vehicle applications that will take full advantage of our powerful network".1

We don't have more details on the new app itself yet, but knowing GM is working with one of the largest wireless company in the USA, we are convince of the quality of the end results. Now, when can we expect this new technology to be available on new vehicle? According to GM, that it could be offered on the new 2015 models. While that may seems a long wait, any automobile enthusiast knows that in fact, it means before the end of 2014.
