Chevrolet Blazer EV 2024—Still Plenty of Mystery!

For 2019, Chevrolet has revived its iconic Blazer designed for off-road adventures as an urban SUV. Soon, it will become one of Chevrolet’s new all-electric models. Little information is available so far, but here’s what the GM Paillé team could find.

Chevrolet Blazer EV 2024 Design

At the time of publication, Chevrolet has not released any images—not even a silhouette—for this model. All that can be made out from a preliminary video is that the backlit electric charging socket appears to be located near the front left wheel, behind a hinged plate, and that the hood slope appears to be quite steep. Otherwise, we can expect the vehicle’s design to pay homage to its glorious past as a muscle car. The interior is expected to feature a large touchscreen, similar to the one unveiled for the Chevrolet Equinox EV.

Engine

No official information is available yet. However, the Blazer EV should be a superior model to the Equinox EV, which is expected to have two electric motors more powerful than the one from the Chevrolet Bolt EV. So you can expect more than the 200 hp and 266 lb-ft of torque the subcompact model currently delivers.

All-Electric Range

Again, nothing official, except that the Chevrolet Blazer EV will use the same Ultium platform as GM’s electric vehicles. Presumably, the range on a full charge should be at least comparable to that claimed for the Equinox EV, i.e., 480 km (300 miles), possibly more.

Availability and Price

Although Chevrolet is keeping a low profile on this model for now, it’s expected to launch in the spring of 2023. Considering that the current 2022 Chevrolet Blazer LT has a starting price of around $40,000, it’s reasonable to expect to pay around $51,000 ($40,000 US) for an all-electric equivalent. It would first be offered in SS trim, the Super Sport badge associated with Chevy’s high-performance vehicles for decades, at an estimated starting price of $89,000 (US$70,000).
